Our Staff
This page is to help you get to know
the Staff at Ward 5 Neighborhood Centre. You might want to drop by and meet us
in person or just to see what is going on at the Centre. One of our very
friendly staff would be happy to show you around.
Executive Director - Douglas MacDonald has been a main
stay with the Centre for 41 years, and he is always happy to answer any
questions one may have on our programs and services. As the CEO, Doug operates
the Centre under the direction of our Board of Directors to set policy and
procedures, and overall supervision of programs/services and financial
controls.
Program Manager - Susan Nordin operates all aspects
of our programs, the daily purchase and planning of meals for the children and
seniors programs. A major task is the operation of St. Mark's Food Bank; Susan
is responsible for networking within the Community, along with referral and
resource services.
Office/Financial Manager - Joy Corkum works
closely with the Executive Director on day-to-day operations/business. Joy is
generally the first contact on the phone and is also responsible for daily
administrative of Ward 5.
Cook - Denika Ross does the meal
preparation for the programs held here at Ward 5 on a daily basis. She prepares
both children's and seniors' lunches Monday to Friday, along with preparing our
Meals to Wheels three days a week, provided to three seniors' manors in the
city.
Youth Counselors - Program staff are responsible for
supervision of our children and youth programs, such as: Breakfast program, hot
lunch program, after-school activities, which include swimming, skating and gym
activities. Out staff offer a safe and fun
environment for children enrolled in our fall/spring and summer program.
Special Staff - Throughout the year various persons
are hired for special projects, such as summer when students are hired for the
day camp. These people bring many skills and new dimensions to our work.
